Anatomy School of Tattoo is a selective, 12-24 month advanced tattoo education program located in Portland, Oregon. Established by renowned tattoo artist Tomma Mueller in 2018, the school offers hand-picked students an opportunity to learn in an intensive, one-on-one setting from experienced professionals. The curriculum is carefully crafted to provide deep knowledge of tattooing techniques, business operations, and client services, preparing students for successful careers in the tattoo industry.
Due to small class sizes and our highly personalized approach, we have a long waitlist. Anatomy School of Tattoo is tailored for artists who are serious about mastering the craft and are dedicated to pursuing tattooing as a lifelong profession.

Programs and Tuition

We currently offer offer one specialized program:

  • Body Art Practitioner Program: $18,000 (1,500 hours)

Our program is designed to provide the highest quality education, though we do not offer payment plans, scholarships, or grants at this time. Additionally, students are responsible for purchasing their own tattoo machines, inks, and needles, estimated at an additional $1,000. Anatomy supplies everything else.

Applying to Anatomy School of Tattoo

Due to our one-on-one training model, Anatomy School of Tattoo has a limited number of available spots. We maintain a small class size of 3-5 students at a time, and our waitlist is long. We encourage only those who are fully committed to pursuing a career in tattooing or cosmetic tattooing to apply.

Application Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age (government-issued ID required).
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 20 piece art portfolio required.
  • Bloodborne Pathogens, First Aid, CPR, and AED certification (for both programs).
  • $50 application fee (credited toward tuition if accepted).

Interview Process: Qualified applicants will be invited to an interview to present their portfolio and discuss their artistic background. This is also an opportunity to ask questions about the program. After the interview, applicants will receive either an acceptance or denial letter. If accepted, you will receive further enrollment instructions.

What to Expect from Our Programs

Our programs cover a wide range of essential skills and techniques needed for a successful career in tattooing. Depending on the student’s availability, each program can be completed in 12-24 months. Class times are flexible and based on the needs of each student, but classes are typically held from 10 AM to 12 PM on weekdays.
